Shane Richie Biography

Shane Patrick Richie was born on March 11, 1964, in London, the United Kingdom, known as Shane Richie. He is an English actor, comedian, television presenter, and singer. Richie has presented some BBC game shows including Reflex, With Your Wish List and Decimate.

The nationality of Richie is Irish, and he has been active since 1986.

Richie was born at St Mary Abbot’s Hospital in Kensington, London to Irish parents. He was sent to Willesden High school and was a member of a youth theatre as a child, and he started his professional career at a very young age as a bluecoat entertainer at a Pontins Holiday Camp Little Canada, On the Isle Of Wight. He progressed to the live stand-up circuit getting a nomination for best new stands up circuit at the inaugural British Comedy Awards.

In 1989, Richie made a nightly appearance for sky TV’s chat show series Jameson Tonight, whose hosts were Derek Jameson and Richie and recorded at the Windmill Theatre, London. In 1990, Richie made his first terrestrial television appearances as one of the comics on the BBC One sketch show Up to Something with Suzy Aitchison David, France Dodge, Mike Hayley, and Lewis MacLeod, but, the show axed after one series. Richie was one of the five comics along with Annette Law, George Marshell, Maddi Cryer, and Billy Pearce.

Richie later branched out into the hosting shows after receiving success from kids’ quiz show ‘Run the Risk’ which played during BBC Saturday morning show Going Live. He moved into mainstream presenting with Caught in the act, ‘Win, Lose or Draw’. Shane also replaced Danny Baker in the ‘doorstep challenge’ TV ads for Daz detergent; he had previously replaced Baker as host of ‘Win, Lose or Draw.’

In the 2012 Christmas episode of the Sarah Millican Television Program, Richie told that Daz gave him a lot of money for doing the adverts that he would have “snorted the stuff” if they had asked him.

Richie got a lot of success in musicals, emerging in such musicals such as Boogie Nights and the 1993 London revival production of Grease. He released two albums, ‘The Album” in 1997 and ‘Once Around The Sun’ in 2000 to limited commercial response, and had a number two hit in the UK Singles Chart in 2003 with his ‘children in need cover version’ of Wham’s ‘ I M Your Man.’

On the Christmas 2005, Richie appeared in a touring run of Scrooge: the Musical. In 2009, he scheduled the opening act for Michael Jackson’s concerts at the 02 Arena. The concerts canceled following Jackson’s death.

During Christmas 2013, Richie appeared as Buttons in the pantomime Cinderella at the Wycombe Swan Theatre in High Wycombe.

In July 2017, it announced that Richie had signed to East West Records and would release an American album inspired by musical heroes later in the year.

In 1995, Richie started hosting the game show, Lucky Numbers. From 2002 to 2003, he played the villainous Danny Dexter on ‘Night and Day.’ He won supporting roles in low-profile British films beginning with Chris Barfoot’s award-winning short comedy movie ‘Dead Clean’ and then later ‘distant shadow.’ In the year of 2003, Richie was executive producer for the British film Shoreditch, in which he also appeared in a leading role. Shane invested a six-figure sum into the budget of the film, which ultimately got the profit.

In 2007, Richie starred in the ITV drama ‘the good Samaritan’ and ‘father frank’ for BBC One. He also worked in the second series of Skins on the channel four as Bruce Gelcart, a lecherous college drama lecturer.

In May 2008, Richie was the host of quiz show on Sky1 called ‘don’t forget the lyrics’ whereby contestants must finish off the lyrics to lines of popular songs to win the money.

In April 2008, he invited as a guest on ‘The Paul O’ Grady Show’ but due to Paul’s illness, Richie stood in the host in as host.

2009

In February 2009, he starred in a revamp of the series Minder on Channel 5. Rather than to make original, Richie stars as Archie Daley, the nephew of the character Arthur from the original series.

In July 2009, Richie appeared in a one-off television drama called ‘Whatever It Takes’ playing a character called JJ Merrick who comes to the aid of a girl who wins a radio competition and catapults her into stardom, thus giving her new lease of life.

Richie presented one series of BBC One game show Reflex, made by Objective Productions in Jan 2014. He began hosting ‘The National Lottery Your Wish List’ a new Saturday night game show in Dec 2014.

In 2015, Richie began presenting the BBC One daytime game show Decimate. In June 2015, it announced that he would appear in an episode of Benidorm. He also remained a significant figure of the EastEnders. Apart from that, he also participated in film and stage show.

Richie married Coleen Nolan in 1990, and together they had two sons, Shane Roche who was born in 1988. And Jake Roche who was born in 1992. They divorced in 1999.

Richie met Christie Anne Goddard through friends in Dec 2001 after starring in the pantomime “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Later Richie proposed to her in April 2005 and in 2006 she gave birth to their child, a boy, named Mackenzie Blue. They married in July 2007. She gave birth to their daughter named Lolita Bell on July 28, 2008. Then another daughter in April 2011, named Angel !2#Shelley.

In the year of 2003, Shane released his autobiography “Rags to Richie.” Shane also claims to have given the free tickets to the touts. Who went on to sell them at the large profit for Richie.

Richie is a patron of the UK’s Huntington’s Disease Association. He is also a patron of Shinfield Players Theatre, taking the role from Anton Rodgers who died in 2007.
