Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, credited as Salman Khan, was born on Dec 27, 1965, in Indore, India. He is an Indian film actor, producer, singer and television personality.
Salman Khan Early life and Family
Salman is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife, Sushila Charak. His paternal ancestors were Pathan from present-day Afghanistan, who immigrated to Indore in the mid-1800s. Mother of Khan is Maharashtrian, whose father Baldev Singh was from Jammu and Kashmir. Stepmother of Salman, Helen, is a former actress. He has two brothers. His brother Arbaaz Khan married to VJ Malaika Arora Khan. Sohail Khan is also his brother. He has two sisters Alvira Khan and Atul Agnihotri, and also an adopted sister Arpita.
Salman finished his schooling at St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai, as did his younger brothers Arbaaz and Sohail. Before this, he studied at The Scindia School, Gwalior for few years along with younger brother Arbaaz. He attended St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai and dropped out.
Salman Khan Career
Salman Khan made his acting debut with a supporting role in 1988 film “biwi ho tu asi ho” in which his voice dubbed by someone else. His first leading role was in romantic family drama “ma ny piar kiya.” It earned him first nomination for the Best Actor at Filmfare.
His role in “hum ap ky han kon” provided him a lot of fame. In the 1990s he played in various films including “Karan Arjun,” “judwaa and Auzaar,” “piar kia tu darna kia,” “hum saht saht han” etc.
Salman acted in films including “hr dil jo piar kry ga” and “chori chori chupky chupky” which addressed the issue of surrogate childbirth. In 2002, he featured in “hum tumary hain sanam.”
Salman Khan gained a lot of fame by working in film “tere naam” in 2003. Still “tere naam” considered as one of the best films of Salman Khan. He subsequently continued his success at the box office with comedies like “muj sy shadi kroge” in 2004 and “no entry” in 2005. His work of 2006 included “jann e man” and “babul” however neither of these two films got any success at the box office.
Salman Khan starred in 2007 in “Salman e ishq.” His next release “partner” performed very well at the box office.
He hosted the second season of the game show 10 ka Dum in the year 2009, which was very successful than his first season in the year 2008. The show received very positive comments. This year was a significant turning point in the career of Salman. At first “wanted” directed by Prabhu Deva, earned superhit status, and then he appeared in other two films which were “ma Aur Mrs. Khanna” and “London Dreams.”
Next releases of Salman were “veer” and then “dabang” in 2010. He performed the role of a fearless cop with comic effect in the film. These got positive reviews and even several records of box office upon release. Dabangg went on to win several awards, including National Film Award for the best popular film.
Salman Khan More success
Khan’s first release of 2011 was “ready’ it became the second highest opening day grosser as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film at that time, after Dabangg. Next, Salman appeared in “bodyguard’. This film was a financial success but was not received well by critics. In 2012, he performed in “aik tha tiger” which received mixed reviews.
His first release was “jai ho” in 2014, which he featured in opposite Daisy Shah. In 2015, his film was “ bajrangi bhaijan” which released on Eid.
Salman Khan’s first film of 2016 was “sultan” directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, which received positive reviews from both from critics and public. The film opened on an average of 70% audience occupancy.
In June 2017, Salman emerged in “tube light” which was his third collaboration with Kabir Khan. He acted along with his brother Sohail Khan. The film failed to get a strong position at the box office. His next release of 2017 is “tiger zinda ha” a sequel to “aik tha tiger” which also reached fame.
Salman Khan Personal life
Salman lives in Galaxy Apartments, Bandra, Mumbai. He has a 150-acre plot in Panvel which has three bungalows, a swimming pool, and a gym.
He has never married and also his relationships have been keen interest in the media and his fans.
In 1999, he dated with Aishwarya Rai, but they separated in 2001. He also dated with Katrina Kaif, Katrina admitted that she had been in a serious relationship with Salman Khan for several years but separated in 2010.
In August 2011, he told that suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve disorder commonly known as “suicide disease.” In an interview, he told that he has been suffering from this disease for the past seven years, but now the pain has become unbearable. The disease has even affected his voice making it much harsher.
Salman Khan was also in court regarding a poaching case to which pleaded: no guilty” the court asked him to identify his religion, on which he responded, “I am a Hindu and Muslim both.” He also further told that his father is Muslim while his mother is Hindu.
Salman Khan Facts
In 2011, Salman launched his own production company, known as SKBH productions. Money earned donated to the Being Human organization.
He also associated with brands by doing work in several advertisements including Hero Honda, Campa Cola, etc. he has been involved in several charities during his career.
In Jan 2012, he offered to pay a huge amount to release about 400 prisoners from about 63 prisons in the state of Uttar Pradesh via his NGO.
Salman also met with his 11-year-old fan from Pakistan, Abdul Basit.
He arrested in 2002 for rash driving after his car ran into a bakery in Mumbai, and a person sleeping on the pavement along with three others were injured in the accident.
Salman Khan also dedicated to bodybuilder and renowned for removing his shirt onscreen.
