Eric Idle is a famous English comedian, actor, author, composer, and singer. Eric Idle Childhood and Early Life:

Eric was born on 29th March 1943 AD in South Shields, County Durham, England. His father’s name was Nora Barron Idle, and he served the nation in the Royal Air Force. His mother’s name Ernest Idle and she was a health visitor. Unfortunately, his father died soon after the World War II. It became hard for his mother to raise a child and survive to live. So, she admitted Eric to a boarding school named Royal Wolverhampton School.

Though his childhood was full of difficulties and hard as he exposed to the harsh environment, he tackled the situation with his smartness and subversive attitude. There were no extracurricular activities in that school. However, he worked very hard and eventually got admission in Cambridge University. He joined the Pembroke College at Cambridge to study English.

At Cambridge, he first became the member and then president of Cambridge University Footlights Club. As a president, he opened the membership for women in the club. Before him, no one even had a thought of it.

His started his career with the children’s television comedy series named “Do Not Adjust Your Set.” In this series, he worked with Michael Palin and Terry Jones who later became his fellows in Python. In the Monty Python group, Eric Idle wrote the comedy script mostly himself and impressed the audience with his material. Moreover Eric Idle liked to be independent as independence brought best for him. This formed the basis of his writings and well received by the audience. The second youngest person in the group, so he was very close to students and teenagers. Most of his sketches of the comedy group were consists of extended monologues that dealt with the contemporary obsessions such as pop music, recreational drugs, and sexual permissiveness. Besides writing, Eric Idle also a good guitarist and also composed some famous musicals such as the “Galaxy Song” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of the Life” to name a few. “Galaxy Song” became the signature tune of Python and the other for “Eric the Half-a-Bee.” The comedy group came to an abrupt end in 1973 and finally opened the way for his independent career.

Then he began his own BBC Radio One Show, Radio Five that went on for two seasons from 1973 to 1974. Along with working on the radio, Eric Idle also tried his hand on television and started the Rutland Weekend Television on BBC2. In 1986, lend his voice to the character of Wreck-gar in the movie named “The Transformers: The Movie.” He performed in the English National Opera Production and comic opera The Mikado and played the role of the Lord High Executioner. He appeared in US television comedy series in 1989, named “Nearly Departed.”

Around the same time, he also made guest appearances in many movies like “Nuns on the Run,” “The Wind in the Willows,” “Casper,” “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen” and “Splitting Heirs.” In 1994 and onwards, he appeared in several movies like the three-dimensional film “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience!”, “Journey into Imagination” and more. Eric Idle wrote and starred in the movie named “Pirate – 4D” for the Busch Entertainment Corporation. Apart from acting on television and big screen, he also lends his voice for video games like Rincewind the “Wizard” and its sequel and also for the animated movies such as “Quest for Camelot” and others.

Towards the end of 2003, he started a tour towards the cities of US and Canada and named it as The Greedy Bastard Tour. During this tour, they performed in different cities. And after the tour wrote a diary named Green Bastard Diary which consists of the events and situations that the crew faced during the tour. His play named “What About Dick?” staged at two public performances in 2007 and very well received by the audience. In August 2012, he performed in the closing ceremony. The Olympic Stadium London on his famous number “Always Look on the Bright Side of the Life”.

Eric Idle married an Australian lady namely Lyn Ashley in 1969, and they blessed with a son named Carey Idle in 1973. However, the marriage was not proved successful and ended up in separation in 1975. Then Eric went on and married an American lady named Tania Kosevich in the year 1981. They blessed with a daughter in 1990, named as Lily Idle and currently the family living in Los Angeles.
