Thomas “Tom” Michael Fletcher is an English songwriter, guitarist, children’s author, and YouTube vlogger. Tom Fletcher was born on July 17, 1985, in London, United Kingdom.

He was born in London to father Bob Fletcher who worked at Kodak and played in local bands, and mother. Debbie Fletcher, a special needs teacher. His parents motivated and supported his love of music from a young age. He attended a prestigious music school, Sylvia Young Theatre School. Where at the age of 13 he met Giovanna Falcone whom he later married in 2012.

Tom has a younger sister, Carrie Hope Fletcher who produces vlogs for the video-sharing site YouTube and who has played Eponine in Les Miserables at the Queen’s Theatre in London, as well as other musical theatre roles. At the age of 10, Tom starred as the major role in Oliver at the London Palladium alongside Jim Dale as Fagin. He made the documentary about HIV for schools and starred in a commercial. In 1995, Tom made a small role in the video to the Mike and The Mechanics song “over my shoulder.” When he was a school student, he has schoolmates Busted bassist Matt Willis.

During the writing project for Busted’s second album “a present for everyone”, Tom was requested by the record label if he was available to film auditions for a new band, V. at that time, he and Danny Jones met for the first time, Jones gave the audition mistaking the band to be a Busted-esque band, rather than the conventional, all-singing, all-dancing, boy band for which they had some intention. Tom was impressed by the style of Jones, so he invited him to write with him and Bourne.

When their writing projects came to an end, they began collaborating with their band and eventually moved into the InterContinental hotel in London for about two months to provide concentration on writing together. Both of them wrote most of their first album, “room on the 3rd floor”.

Bassist Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd subsequently recruited through proper advertisement. Tom thought of an idea to name the band after Mart McFly, the major character from his favorite film “back to the future.” McFly then reached to the fame after Busted assisted launch them by inviting them to be the opening act on their tour in March 2004.

In 2004, McFly reached it into the ‘Guninness Book of World Records’ beating the Beatles’ record for “the youngest band to have a debut album go straight to number one. Tom has written major songs of the McFly with Jones and Poynter, with occasional contributions by Judd, Bourne has also assisted with songwriting on different occasions.

On Nov 15, 2010, McFly released five studio albums and two compilation albums.. a greatest hit album entitled “memory lane: the best of McFly” which consists of some B-sides from earlier albums, original demos of well-known tracks as well as three new singles. He was the founding member of McFly, who shares leading vocals with Danny Jones and sometimes undertakes the role of ukulele player and pianist.

Tom has written and co-written ten UK number one singles including “who is David”, “five colors in her hair”, “obviously”, “all about you”, “ I will be Ok”, “star girl”, “please please” etc. he co-wrote 8 of the songs on ‘a present for everyone’. He is the primary writer on the majority of the tracks on all five of the albums of the band. Among all the members of the McFly. Tom has them lost credit for songwriting, and therefore he has the most money.

Tom wrote, “on a rainbow” which is the official song of the 2012 Summer Olympics. The song features vocals from him and his sister Carrie Hope. He is also the writer of the song “I want” for the debut album of one direction “up all night.” He has co-written various songs with James Bourne including “chills in the evening” recorded by V. Tom also co-wrote “high hopes” with all four members of the Vamps for their debut album, “Meet the Vamps.” Tom also co-wrote ‘5 seconds of summer’ which released on YouTube on June 1, 2013, and, in 2014. He was featured as a B-side to their hit single “don’t stop.”

Writer of children’s books

Tom released his first children’s book in 2012. He made his first solo novel “the Christmasaurus” in Oct 2016, which is about a young boy called William Trundle. Who goes on the magical adventure on Christmas Eve. In Oct 2017, a musical version of the book, entitled ‘the christmasaurus’ Musical Edition released. He further released a single from the soundtrack to ‘the christmasaurus: musical edition’ called “afraid of heights” along with a music video.

In Dec 2017,Tom Fletcher released a second single and music video from the soundtrack “don’t know what it is.” Both of the videos directed by David Spearing.

In April 2011, Tom engaged to his schoolmate and longtime girlfriend, Giovanna. He proposed her at the age of 13. They married in May 2012 with his McFly bandmates serving as his groomsmen.

His wife Giovanna is also a YouTube Vlogger and a bestselling author.  Her books “Billy and Me,” “you are the one that I want,” “Christmas with Billy and me,” “dream a little dream” are published by Penguin’s Michael Joseph. She also released a book in 2017 about motherhood titled, Happy Mum, Happy Baby.

Tom and his wife have two children; their first baby was born on March 13, 2014. A boy named Buzz Fletcher. Their second baby, again a son, named Buddy Bob Fletcher was born on Feb 16, 2016. The couple is passing a happy life.

In McFly’s autobiography, ‘unsaid things’ Tom discussed his diagnosis of the bipolar affective disorder. Which he told was a great influence over the second album of McFly, ‘wonderland.’ He has also directed his struggles with his eating disorders, weight and, obsessive dieting.

In 2008. Tom made his contribution to the short story anthology ‘wow 366’.

In June 2011, Tom appeared on the ITV game show ‘the cube’ and also became the third person to win £100,000. He gave this money to Comic Relief and BIRT.

In 2013, he took part in ‘all-star family fortunes’ and ‘all-star Mr. and Mrs.’.

Tom Fletcher also has a strong YouTube audience with just over 614 thousand subscribers. He is a frequent Vlogger, filming his daily life and his life while he is on tour with McFly. This is intelligent and sharp enough to maintain his career.
